How a Wine Bar Transformed into a Classic French Restaurant
The space began as a wine bar in 2009 known as Voyou. Renaud Cugusi, inspired by his parent’s Parisian business at the local farmers market, wanted to open a French bistro in the heart of San Diego. After closing the bar, he and his wife, Sandra, opened La Bonne Table, bringing a unique touch to French cuisine in San Diego.
La Bonne Table refers to a dinner table, i.e., the good table, a gathering spot for the family to reunite and share simple yet delectable cooked meals.
They specialize in traditional French cuisine with no embellishments or lavish ingredients. They focus on making simple, hearty, and delicious food, presented elegantly to be a feast for the eyes and the stomach. When you go in, you are greeted as if you are a member of the family, creating a welcoming and homely atmosphere.
Fine French Dining
The starters feature classic French dishes such as lovely onion soup with croutons and gruyere, escargots in sizzling garlic butter, Pork Pate’ with pistachios, and Roasted Bone Marrow.
In the entrees, you have a choice of Prime hanger steak, Mussels with lobster bisque broth, Classic French casserole, Duroc bone-in pork chop, and tender duck thighs. Coupled with sides of bread and butter, hand-cut French fries, Gratin Dauphinois, and Legumes Du Jour, you are sure to experience a delightful dinner whether you come here on a date or with your family. They also have a wide selection of wine, champagne, rouge, aperitifs to pair with your meal.
Its attractiveness is instantly appealing, and the design and patio transport you to a beautiful Parisian Street, making it one of the best places to experience French cuisine in San Diego.
