The 42nd Annual Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off returns on Saturday, June 25. This event attracts more than 70,000 people to Ocean Beach to enjoy an oceanfront chili cook-off, a variety of food and merchandise vendors, three stages of continuous music, the Community Mural Project, Artist Alley featuring local artisans and crafters, and other activities.
The Veterans Plaza Chili Cook-Off competition includes 20 tastings in both amateur and restaurant divisions. Chili chefs compete for awards such as Best Restaurant Chili, Best Amateur Chili, Judge’s Choice, and People’s Choice. Chili tastings will start at 11 a.m. and will end when contestants run out of samples.
Music genres will include acoustic, rock, blues, alternative, Americana, Reggae, and much more. The audiences will be entertained by musicians from everywhere – including talented local musicians. Rock & Roll San Diego will also return offering a fun music area for attendees to stop by and learn to play a simple song by one of the professional musicians.
The Beachside Beer Garden will be open all day for guests who want to enjoy an ice-cold brew while overlooking the ocean. It will be right next to the main stage, with live music. They will organize the Hodad’s Burger Eating Contest and announce the winners of the Chili Cook-Off while serving both beer and mixed drinks.
Parking is available at the Sun Runner parking lot located on SeaWorld Drive at Pacific Coast Highway. Trolley services will run from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., from the parking lot to two drop-off locations in Ocean Beach.
