Every pride month, the LGBTQ+ community comes together to celebrate the power of diversity and honor the progress we have accomplished in creating a society that prioritizes equality and inclusion. After last year’s festivities were postponed, canceled, or moved online due to COVID-19, Pride 2021 was anticipated to be bigger and better.
Pride started out as a protest in New York in 1969, outside of the Stonewall Inn. Now, each year, the LGBTQ+ community celebrates the achievements made towards diversity inclusion. Parades take place all over the country through the month of June, and during other months in countries around the globe.
During pride month, celebrities, influencers, and even politicians use their social media platforms to express their support and thoughts for the LGBTQ+ community, often taking the chance to educate and spread awareness about equal rights.
Pride 2021 was no exception, with Twitter and Instagram flooded with famous names using their social media accounts to celebrate pride month. Celebrities used different ways to commemorate the month, with some using rainbow colors in their outfits, and others sharing words of hope and encouragement for the LGBTQ+ community.
