What if you could make a separate replica of yourself who came to work every day, did their job, and then left? That version, known as an “innie,” got all of the benefits of small talk, and a complete separation from any controversy in the outside world, including what living was like for their other half. You, the “outie,” were freed to enjoy your life to the fullest extent (and spend your money) without having to worry about what was waiting for you the next day.

Severance on Apple TV+ is unquestionably one of the weirdest shows on the air right now. The plot revolves around a set of employees who agree to having their employer, Lumon, sever their memories in order to differentiate their work and personal lives. And, of course, that is just the beginning.

Severance was created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle. It stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette.
